Background

During May 2019, ESET telemetry showed a surge in malware aimed at France. Closer analysis revealed malware that pushes out several kinds of spam: one strand leads to a survey that funnels victims toward a shady smartphone promotion, while the other runs a sextortion scheme. The spam is directed at customers of the French ISP Orange S.A.
