Proton RAT, also known as Calisto, is a macOS rat.

Background

Proton RAT is a Remote Access Trojan built specifically to target macOS hosts. Once installed, it hands attackers full remote control of the machine, supporting command execution, keylogging, camera and microphone access, and theft of credentials saved in browsers and password managers. It usually arrives through tampered or trojanized applications that launch the payload after an unsuspecting user downloads and runs them. The malware is well known for its sophistication and stealth, employing methods to slip past the security tools running on a system.
