Background

P2Pinfect is a rapidly expanding cross-platform botnet whose ultimate goal remains unclear. Built in Rust, it runs on both Windows and Linux and includes a MIPS build aimed at Linux-based routers and IoT gear. It spreads by brute forcing SSH credentials and abusing Redis servers, propagating both to random internet IPs and to hosts referenced in files found on machines it has already infected.
