BitDefender tracked the development of a Mirai-inspired botnet, dubbed LiquorBot, which seems to be actively in development and has recently incorporated Monero cryptocurrency mining features.

Background

BitDefender followed the evolution of LiquorBot, a Mirai-inspired botnet that appears to be under active development and has lately gained Monero cryptocurrency mining functionality. Notably, LiquorBot is built in Go (Golang), which brings advantages over conventional C-style code such as memory safety, garbage collection, structural typing, and CSP-style concurrency.
