Background

First seen in late April 2020, Kaiji is, per Intezer, a Go-based DDoS malware that propagates via SSH brute force attacks. The function names recovered from it are English renderings of Chinese words, which points to its likely origin. MalwareMustDie coined the name Kaiji from strings observed in the samples.
