Ice IX
The ICE IX bot is a banking trojan derived of the Zeus botnet because it uses significant parts of Zeus’s source code.
Ice IX is a Windows malware family.
Background
The ICE IX bot is a banking trojan that descends from the Zeus botnet, reusing substantial portions of Zeus’s source code. Because it talks to its operators over HTTP, it qualifies as a third-generation botnet. Although it has served many purposes, ICE IX's main danger lies in tampering with banking activity on infected machines. Like any bot, running it forges a master-slave relationship between the botmaster and the compromised computer.
