FDMTP
FDMTP is a newly discovered hacking tool developed in .NET, used by Earth Preta.
FDMTP is a Windows malware family operated by MUSTANG PANDA.
Background
FDMTP is a recently identified .NET-based tool attributed to Earth Preta. It acts as a basic malware downloader and is built on the TouchSocket framework running over the Duplex Message Transport Protocol (DMTP). In one operation, the actors placed FDMTP inside the data section of a DLL so it could be invoked through DLL side-loading. Its embedded network settings are protected with Base64 encoding and DES encryption to harden them and avoid detection. FDMTP has been seen functioning as a secondary control mechanism, frequently delivered by the PUBLOAD backdoor.
